Welcome to Moody Waters Website.
The Website began in 2001 when Sailing Today Magazine was hunting for a tidy Moody 33 to feature in an article about buying second hand. They had been to most of the brokers, but had only found some sad and tired examples which were not particularly picture worthy.
Sailing Today started another search through the Moody Owners Association and we were subsequently asked by our Solent captain if Moody Waters would be available to have some photos taken for the article. The wording ended with " If not, we'll find another victim"!
Sailing Today set up mutually convenient date and promised us some copies of the photos for our time and effort to accommodate. All the photos were taken in the Solent ( just outside Langston Harbour ) believe it or not.
We were quite astounded when the August edition appeared with Moody Waters on the Front Page, our understanding was that the article would just be a feature on buying used boats of similar size.
At the London International Boat Show the following January, we were again surprised to find that the Sailing Today stand had their press packs with Moody Waters again full front page.
Family, friends, and work colleagues were promised a look, although this was going to be expensive as many were abroad. That's how the website started - we just emailed the site address to them.
To this day, Sailing Today have not given us any pictures whatsoever, despite calling at their office asking if any were available. I was told that the reporter Rupert Holmes had left. It would have been nice to have a few good quality originals to blow up and perhaps frame, especially as August 2001 was the month we married. I now subscribe to Practical Boat Owner !
All the photos on the website have been scanned from the 2001 magazine article.
Anyway, I hope you may find something of interest here, even if you just want proof that yachting does not have to be expensive if you do ALL the maintenance work yourself.
The products used for restoration and protection are well worth a look, plus a useful links page. |
